Tuff-Form Script Badge for CamperKing

CamperKing is a leading UK campervan converter known for high specification builds and an automotive-level finish. As part of a wider rebrand and vehicle launch, CamperKing required a new rear script badge that would reflect its evolving identity while meeting the rigorous durability standards expected in the automotive sector. Diametric was appointed to develop and manufacture a premium solution suitable for exterior application and repeat volume production.

Resin Domed Badges

The Challenge

CamperKing wanted to introduce a scripted rear badge using individual letters for the first time. The specification demanded a bright chrome aesthetic and a premium automotive appearance. Additionally, the project required precise letter spacing supplied on an application liner alongside a controlled tooling investment.

Because the badge would be exposed to real-world environmental conditions, aesthetic quality alone was not sufficient. The engineering performance had to match the design intent. This meant ensuring exterior durability, including resistance to salt spray and weathering. The solution also required strong adhesion capable of withstanding moisture, thermal movement and jet washing. All of this had to be achieved within compressed timelines to support show vehicles and formal launch gateways.

Our Approach

Diametric’s relationship with CamperKing enabled early and open technical discussions during the rebrand phase. Initial concepts explored resin domed badges. However, after reviewing the vehicle surfaces and intended positioning, we advised upgrading to aluminium and Tuff-Form polycarbonate solutions to better achieve both the visual standard and the required durability.

For the rear script badge, bright silver polycarbonate Tuff-Form was selected instead of traditional chrome plating. This delivered a crisp metallic finish aligned with automotive expectations while offering improved resistance to corrosion and environmental exposure. It also required a lower tooling commitment compared to plated alternatives and provided the fine detail capability necessary for scripted lettering.

Each letter was manufactured to tight tolerances and pre-spaced on a precision application liner. A strong automotive-grade adhesive was specified and die-cut to the rear of each character to ensure consistent installation and long-term bonding to painted bodywork. Prototypes were delivered within tight development windows, and Diametric advised on badge types suitable for initial concept vehicles before CamperKing committed to fully engineered volume parts.

The Result

The finished rear script badge provides a distinctive, high-quality branding element that enhances the T7 Freedom’s exterior presence. The Tuff-Form solution achieves the desired bright chrome appearance while delivering robust performance in outdoor conditions. The precision liner system supports highly efficient installation within CamperKing’s in-house production environment, helping maintain the brand’s industry-leading five-week delivery timeline.

Following the success of the rear script badge, the collaboration expanded to include front and rear roundels, wheel caps, side vinyl elements and key fob badging. The project evolved from a single badge enquiry into a wider vehicle branding programme aligned with CamperKing’s broader rebrand.

CamperKing commented:

This was our first venture into investigating branding and badging onto our vehicle range, and the process felt straightforward from the outset. Guidance was provided on selecting a badge type and specification that met our design intent while delivering the robust engineering performance required for automotive use... From concept and prototype badges through to final engineering-approved parts, product quality aligned exactly with design intent. The artwork and badge style have been well received and provide a standout feature that enhances the CamperKing brand. A strong working relationship has been formed during this project and we look forward to continuing collaboration on future developments.
