CELEBRATING 40 YEARS of PRECISION BADGING

Diametric showcase innovation at Upham Primary School

Reflecting their commitment to inspire the community around them, Diametric created an interactive and interesting manufacturing experience for local schoolchildren.

Taking part in Upham Primary School’s ‘World of Work’ week, they set up several stations so children could have a go at creating their very own badge. They started with a CAD drawing of a road wheel badge from a well-known automotive brand and then moved to a production line to assemble their badges. The construction consists of two components; an aluminium graphic with an adhesive backing and a moulded carrier, which the children fixed together using a toggle clamp. Once the lesson had finished, each student was presented with their very own name badge, made by Diametric as a keep sake for a job well done.

Graham Steele, Managing Director of Diametric, said; “We always want to help bring learning to life especially when it comes to showing the children what they can do with technology in an engineering and manufacturing context. I hope that these type of practical demonstrations inspire them to develop skills in later life and also highlights that they can pursue an exciting career in industry within their local area.”

Mrs Bird, Year 3 Class Teacher, said “The World of Work week is a great experience for the children and Upham and Diametric really went the extra mile to create an interesting and exciting experience for the children. We are grateful to have a successful local business sharing their insight and cutting edge knowledge with us.”

Diametric are committed to engaging with education at all levels, providing support and information to students at school and also in further and higher education. They regularly offer work placements, allowing students to work across all areas of the business from marketing to assembly.
