CELEBRATING 40 YEARS of PRECISION BADGING

Diametric donate to Bishop’s Waltham Minibus Group

Diametric has recently chosen local charity, Bishop’s Waltham Minibus Group, to support during 2019 in its bid to continue to support the local community.

Diametric has always been keen to support local organisation and charities, which in more recent years included sponsoring a stall at a St John’s School fair and donating iPads and GoPro cameras for Upham Primary School.

The Bishop’s Waltham Minibus Group provides transport for charitable organisations and affiliated groups in Bishop’s Waltham and surrounding parishes, helping older generations and the disabled to get out and live a full life.

The day-to-day running of the minibus is covered by the fees they charge but the ongoing costs of maintaining the minibuses means that the charity is always looking for local supporters and donations to ensure the service stays available to as many people as possible. Drivers and escorts are all volunteers, but require training which is an additional expense.

“Raising money is essential for us to continue to offer the minibus service,” said Sandy Kara, Secretary of Bishop’s Waltham Minibus Group. “We want to continue to offer the service to as many people as we can and without donations we wouldn’t be able to do this. Having Diametric’s support will go a long way to helping us give more people the opportunity to get out and about and for more people to volunteer and receive the training they need to keep us thriving.”

“We asked everyone at Diametric to nominate a local charity for us to consider supporting,” said Graham Steele, Managing Director of Diametric. “We decided on Bishop’s Waltham Minibus Group because they provide an invaluable service to the community, helping people to maintain their quality of life. We wanted our support to help them grow.”

The Group has a long history, it was founded in 1983, and in addition to providing hire services for charitable organisations, local businesses and groups it also provides a regular service for lunch clubs in Bishop’s Waltham and a weekly ‘Dial a Ride’ service for surrounding areas, including Fareham and Hedge End.

The Minibus has 14 passenger seats and can be adapted to take wheelchair passengers. For more information, email Sandy Kara on sandykara@btinternet.com
