ABOUT THE PROJECT

How do you replicate two intricate royal warrants of appointment, along with other important text, on a badge just six centimetres long?

That was the question posed to Diametric as it was commissioned to produce the product badges for Roberts Radio’s special 80th anniversary edition radios.

The badges needed to feature two royal warrants of approval, as well as the Roberts name and key dates.

With just six centimetres as a canvas, Diametric set about finding the best solution to replicate the warrants and text with ultimate precision in the small space.

After heavy research and consultation, Diametric used its electroforming technique. This was chosen as the best technique because it allows even the tiniest and most intricate of text to be replicated with ultimate precision, accuracy and clarity.

The badge also had to radiate heritage and class to reflect the values of the product and the Roberts Radio brand. To hit the brief Diametric’s design team used a nickel-based badge with gold plating.

The result was literally a badge fit for a prince as the badges were fitted on the limited edition run of radios and one was presented to HRH Prince Charles at a celebratory event at St James’s Palace.

With Diametric’s badges being of utmost durability and Roberts Radios being a collectors’ item, the product is destined to stand the test of time for many years to come.
